Poem – Burdened

Today, I forged forward
as far as I could
till I dropped to my knees.
Then I spoke to the Lord,
“Why have You stopped me?
I’ve come so very far.”
Then He motioned me
to turn my head around
to see how He’s blessed me
all through my life
time and again.
My joy then returned,
I’d been running on empty.
Spilling out my life
from the wind of my walk
where compulsion set in.

How far is far
when next to eternity?
It has only been inches,
yet so far from home.
Now, humbly still, I thank you.
Drinking in all
from the pool
that has blessed,
His love from above
is giving me rest.
On my way again.
Now, wiser.
I’ll not spill my blessings again.
I’ll treasure them fully
as a part of my walk,
fullness carried upon my heart.
