November 7, 2024Grayson Berry - DIRECTORS STATEMENT
They say necessity is the mother of invention, and Grayson’s work behind the camera as a Producer/Writer/Director certainly reflects that.
He began as an actor in 2002, but after Writing/Directing/Producing his first Pilot in 2010, he realized that "passion projects" were more fulfilling long term.
Unlike the high and crash from acting, "passion projects" seemed to benefit everyone in the cast and crew, and were the "gift that keeps on giving."
Gray, as he’s known to family and friends, found that he had a knack for attracting phenomenal crew, who were either already experienced, and loved it, or were trying it part-time, and found they loved their work on-set far more than their regular job.
A Houston, TX native, he moved to back to Texas (Austin) a few months ago, after 7 and half years in West New York, NJ, and 12 years, off and on, in Los Angeles. Getting a feel for both coasts, and picking up amazing crew along the way,
The University of San Diego graduate has helmed projects ranging from a gritty western feature (Cruzado), to a sports travel documentary (25,000 Miles To Glory), multiple half hour comedy Pilots (Westish, Prescribed, Holy Wood), and most recently, a gaming film, entitled Initiative, about a group of D & D friends, whose reality vacillates between the RPG world and a mental institution.
And now Calington Castle.
Grayson met RA Feller at Book Expo in New York several years ago, and the two embarked on a partnership to bring Feller's Calington series to the big screen.
Since, the two have collaborated on a Novel Trailer, a Sizzle Reel, and a Proof-of-Concept, and are now in position to take the next step in production.
